| Finish | Gloss sunburst finish. The back of the neck is ‘satined’ – basically rubbed down with 0000-grade steel wool, an easy effect to maintain. |
| Hardware/electronics | Black Hipshot licensed tuners, polyurethane strings, rosewood nut. Shadow active pickup system with volume and 2-band tone controls. |
| Playability/Action | Plays well and the light weight and short scale – 21″ – makes this usable in many places a full size bass just wouldn’t fit. |

| Comments | The Kala U-Bass solidbody is a very cool little bass. When these came in, they got a lot of attention from all the bass players in the shop. Though they are small, they can generate a big sound with tons of bottom end.
Interestingly, these are US-made; the parts are built in California, and assembled at Kala’s custom shop. |
