This is a classic. Built during 1952, this is a C. F. Martin D-28 dreadnought steel string acoustic guitar. As with all D-28s of the era, it uses Brazilian rosewood for the back and sides, though the figuring on this set is fairly plain and straight.
Martin stopped using Brazilian on any regular production guitars in 1969, along with other builders like Gibson.
The Martin D-28 is one of the classic instruments, copied by virtually every other steel string guitar builder, but this is an original. This example is in very good playing condition, and has just had the service almost every guitar of a certain age requires. A neck reset, fret dress and setup were done by The Twelfth Fret Repair Shop. The finish is very clean and glossy. It has been played, but the top finish is not worn through as on many examples. And as expected, it sounds great. A non-original brown hardshell case is included.
