Built from 1937 to 1941, the Gibson L-37 has a relatively small body – 14.75 inches wide and 3.5 inches deep – an arched top and a flat back. Some models had round sound holes, but these were rapidly disappearing in favor of F-holes.
This Gibson L-37 dates to around 1938, and is in good playing condition. Over the years it’s had some repairs, including several splinted cracks in the solid spruce top – these appear to have been solid for some years, and the body has been oversprayed to protect it. The tuners are newer replacements, of a style that would be found on modern Gibson products. The original tuners would likely have had creme or black plastic buttons that probably degraded over time. Most notably, this guitar has been refretted in the recent past, so it plays very cleanly.
A period case is included, dyed or painted black.
