Cromwell guitars were lower-cost instruments built by Gibson from 1935 to 1939 for distribution by several mail-order houses particularly Continental, Gretsch & Brenner, Grossman and Richter & Phillips.

Gibson created several brands to fill out their production capacity, including Kalamazoo and Kel Kroyden.
