Based closely on the banjo made for Leon Hunt, this beautiful example of the Nechville Phantom Curly Maple Leon Hunt Banjo features curly maple and cocobolo. The wooden tone ring combined with a mix of steel and nylon ball bearings gives the warm, fat tone of the famous Nechville ‘Zeus’ model. The attractive honey amber on the metal components is a limited run finish.
MORE →This wonderful instrument uses Madagascar rosewood, which has many of the visual and tonal qualities of Brazilian, but isn’t endangered. It has the typical, lush and full Martin sound and the slightly slimmer ‘performance’ neck profile is very easy to get around on. The herringbone purfling and grained ivoroid binding are a very nice touch.
