Gary Benson Memorial 1939 – 2014 Gary Benson was one of Canada’s premiere jazz guitarists, in a career covering three decades. A regular backup guitarist for the best vocalists, Gary also worked in bands at the Stratford and Shaw festivals.

The beautiful Stelling Red Fox banjo is a new model, another superb example of Geoff Stelling’s craftsmanship. Inspired by master banjoist Bill Emerson, the Red Fox features Stelling’s unique bronze ‘Wedge Fit’ tone ring fitted to a Tony Pass ‘Lost Timbre’ block rim. The Red Fox inlay on the headstock and abalone maple leaf inlay on the fingerboard help make this fine instrument really quite fetching.

I had a lot of fun with this Gibson Guitars SGJ 2014 120th Anniversary model. Took it off the wall, plugged it straight into one of my current favourite amps – a Vox AC15 – and it sounded great.

Today we have a Boucher Guitars Alancia Goose OMH, or Orchestra Model Hybrid. This model features cocobolo back and sides, this specific example a wood set with lovely sapwood providing visual effects.
