Cadillac Green Gretsch G6196T Country Club

Presenting – the Cadillac Green Gretsch G6196T Country Club!

Occupying a position near the top of the Gretsch line since its introduction in 1954, the Country Club is often overshadowed by its slightly younger (1955) sibling, the White Falcon. While the two share many common features – body shape and size, scale length, much hardware – the Country Club features a solid spruce top, pushing it closer to the Gibson models like the Super 400.

The Gibson J-35 is back, and what an entrance!

Originally produced in 1936, the J-35 was displaced by the classic (and slightly more expensive) J-45, and went out of production in 1942. About 3000 were originally made.

The headstock has the vintage Gibson script logo and the “Only A Gibson Is Good Enough” banner.

Here is the very, very cool Gretsch 130th Anniversary Junior – G6118T LTV JR. Gretsch has from time to time made smaller-bodied versions of their guitars, perhaps to balance out the giant Falcon and Country Club models.

But this isn’t a ‘Mini’ guitar – the body is smaller, close to the size of a George Benson model, but it’s full scale so the tension and tone are all there.

Here is a wonderful flat-top steel string guitar from Ryo Ryosuke Kobayashi, built during 2012. Ryo Ryosuke Kobayashi apprenticed to Sergei de Jonge at his shop in Chelsea, Quebec.

This impressive instrument features a somewhat oversize classical shaped body and an elegant contoured cutaway. The top is bound and the purfling follows the line of the cutaway very nicely.
