David Wren has been one of Canada’s premiere builders for decades, along with stints doing repairs at The Millwheel in downtown Toronto and being part owner of The Twelfth Fret.
This 2010 Wren Concert is in excellent condition and is a fine example of David’s work.

The original Jupiter Thunderbird was designed by and built for Bo Diddley in 1959, by a Gretch employee using Gretsch necks and hardware. Bo’s concern was that the larger electric he was using – an L-5! – was so big that it hindered his energetic performance.

This 1967 Hagstrom H8 8-String Bass is a good example of what the company was producing at the time. The angular and somewhat asymmetrical shape are clearly influenced by American instruments, including the Gibson SG and Fender Stratocaster

This 1966 Gibson ES-330 TD Sunburst is in great condition, visually and in terms of playability. It has been refretted professionally, so it’s ready to be played for many years to come. This is one of the 16-fret versions; later revisions of the instrument had the neck joining the body at the 19th fret, which changed the tone and perhaps weakened the neck joint.

The Model D 12-Fret was originally built by Santa Cruz for Norman Blake. The 12-fret neck moves the bridge closer to the center of the vibrating surface, increasing power and responsiveness. The top, bracing and large 4.25 inch sound hole deliver presence throughout the instrument’s range.
This 2002 Santa Cruz Model D 12-Fret Dreadnought is in great playing condition. It speaks quite loudly and clearly, with lots of articulation and sparkle on the upper end, but without overwhelming bass.
