Guild F47R SOLD

I’ve always been attracted to a guitar that gives you a lot of sound even with a soft touch. There’s something amazing about playing an instrument that really responds to every subtle little shift of your fingers; it makes you feel like there is one less wall between the sound in your head and what the rest of the room will hear. The Guild F47R is one such guitar. It will never be the loudest guitar in the room, but it has a beautiful sustain at any volume, even with the softest strum you can manage. The narrow waist and smaller lower bout of this Grand Orchestra Model help keep the volume and projection consistent across the entire fingerboard. The Spruce top with Rosewood back and sides combine to create an airy, open, expansive sound that stays clear and defined even at the low end.

Guild D40 BG w/ Pickup SOLD

First up, we have a true powerhouse: the D40 Bluegrass Jubilee. Representing Guild’s take on a true classic, this guitar has all the warmth, punch, and clarity a dreadnought player could want. With its thumpy lower midrange, it has a distinctly ‘vintage’ sound; reminiscent of those J-45s from the 50’s we’ve all drooled over at one point or another. The scalloped spruce bracing allows lots of movement from the top, giving the D40 BG a great amount of volume, and i bit more presence in the attack and note fundamental than I usually expect from a guitar with so much ‘warmth’.

Guild F412 12 String

  Guild F412 12 String

“That is the best acoustic 12-string ever made.” said Grant as I sat strumming the Guild F412 in preparation for this review. It’s not everyday I hear such praise coming from Grant, nor is it a statement that is easily dismissed. With almost 40 years experience in guitar restoration and repair, Grant’s opinion on any guitar is something I try to pay close attention to. I asked him to elaborate; “The sound, construction quality, design, even the look… this is the guitar all other 12 strings are aiming to beat. The sixties and seventies era Guild 12 string guitars were the only ones that didn’t need constant repair and service. They have a timeless design and I am happy to see the they have gone back to their historical roots.”

Gitane D-500 Django ‘manouche’ Gypsy Jazz Guitar

Gypsy jazz guitar player Django Reinhardt will forever be connected with the Selmer/Maccaferri guitars manufactured in the 1930’s and 40’s in France. There are many handmade replicas of these wonderful flattop guitars, but very few affordable alternatives available to musicians pursuing the Gypsy Jazz idiom. The new Gitane D-500 definitely fills this void!
