Tiples were popular in the early part of the 20th century, into the 1930’s. This example, adapted from the South American instrument, is 17″ scale, and 8 15/16″ wide. Strung in four courses, with the outside two having two strungs and the center two with three and is tuned like a ukulele.

Supro guitars and amps were made by Valco, as one of a range of brand names including Oahi, National, and Airline. This great-condition 1959 example has been refretted but is otherwise original and is in great playing order.

MORE →Here’s a very cool and rare mid-50’s Guild Masteramp 60. Guild wasn’t known as much for amps as Fender or Gibson were, but made a lot of great units. This example is in good condition though the trem is not working. The Masteramp line included the 60 with a 12″ speaker, and the 110 with a 15″ speaker.
