Beard Resoluxe Solidbody Resophonic Electric Guitar Sunburst, 2018

Here’s a very cool instrument – a Paul Beard Resoluxe solidbody resophonic guitar from 2018, with both Fishman Nashville and a Lollar P-90 pickups! A fairly new model for Paul Beard, the Beard Resoluxe pairs a solid Mahogany body with a Mahogany neck, with Ebony for the fingerboard and head plate. A 9.5 inch hand spun biscuit cone occupies the top, and has the Fishman Nashville element on the biscuit.

Here we’re looking at a very clean Deering Sierra Maple 5-string banjo, dating to September 2013 and built in Spring Valley California. Greg Deering says about the Deering Sierra Model 5 string banjo: “No one can buy a better banjo…they could buy a fancier one, but not a better one!”.

Deering John Hartford Radiused Fingerboard 5-String Banjo, 2010

Here we’re looking at a Deering John Hartford Radiused Fingerboard 5-string banjo, built during 2010 at the Deering shop in Spring valley, California. This model combines a Grenadillo tone ring with a Violin grade 3-ply Maple rim, Flame maple neck with bound Ebony fingerboard, and flame Maple for the resonator. The instrument has a Walnut stain and a Satin finish.

Eastman MD904D Two Point Mandolin Natural, 2010

The Eastman MD904D Two Point oval hole mandolin follows the modified A Style or ‘teardrop’ pioneered by Orville Gibson around 1900. This model perhaps most resembles the Gibson A5 two point, built from 1957 to 1979. As an oval hole model, it will have a somewhat warmer tone compared to the percussive ‘chop’ of an F-hole model. Featuring a solid, carved Sitka Spruce top paired with carved, solid Flame Maple back, with matching Flamed Maple for the sides and neck and binding, and with gold plated hardware, this Eastman MD904D Two Point was built during 2010 near Beijing and is in good shape with minor wear.

Scheerhorn L Body Squareneck Resophonic Guitar Koa, 2008

Here we’re looking at a Tim Scheerhorn L Body Koa square neck resophonic guitar, signed and dated – in two places! – by Tim Scheerhorn himself. The label, visible through the bass sound hole, lists a build date of 11/22/08, or November 22 2008, and bears Tim Scheerhorn’s signature. Those same pieces of information – the date and the signature – are also hand written on the inside of the back.

SOLD!! Bacon and Day Super Tenor Banjo, 1927

It’s always interesting to see vintage pieces like this Bacon and Day Super Tenor banjo, built around 1927 at the Bacon Banjos shop in Boston, Massachusetts. The Super Tenor was built from 1920 to 1927. From 1906 to 1920, noted musician Fredrick Bacon sold banjos under his own name. In 1921, he partnered with David Day and while the company name remained Bacon, many instruments were branded Bacon and Day. Bacon, and Bacon and Day, operated independently until 1940 when they were purchased by Gretsch; the line was discontinued in 1967.
