C. F. Martin OM-35 Steel String Guitar Sunburst, 2006

  C. F. Martin OM-35 Steel String Guitar Sunburst, 2006

The C. F. Martin OM-35  was built between 2003 and 2007, drawing from the excellent tonal results of the OM design and adding ’35’ level features. While the OM-35 itself is discontinued, it is now available with a standard pickup as the OM-35E. The Martin OM is itself based on the OOO or ‘Triple O’ body design, but adds a longer scale length neck – 25.4 inches instead of the Triple O’s 24.9 inches. This increases the string tension, making the top work a bit harder to deliver a bit more volume and clarity.

C F Martin 0-18K Steel String Guitar Koa, 1930

  C F Martin 0-18K Steel String Guitar Koa, 1930

Built from 1918 to 1935, the C F Martin 0-18K is a small body Koa wood guitar intended for Hawaiian music, which was very popular at the time. Another very similar version, the 0-18KH (for Hawaiian) was built between 1927 and 1928. Based on the proven ‘parlor’ size 0 body, the 0-18K used Koa for the top, sides and back, Mahogany for the neck with an unbound Ebony fingerboard and Ebony bridge. At the time this example was built – likely around November 1930, given the serial number – straight Bar frets were still used.

C. F. Martin 00-42SC John Mayer ‘Stagecoach’ Guitar, 2016

 C. F. Martin 00-42SC John Mayer 'Stagecoach' Guitar, 2016

Here’s an interesting instrument – From C F Martin, the 00-42SC John Mayer model, which replicates a Stagecoach or early Travel Guitar! This spectacular instrument combines a 00 size body with Sitka Spruce and Cocobolo, and adds ’42’ series inlays and appointments. A 12-fret neck and slotted peghead are used to keep the dimensions down, keeping in mind that the SC designates that these originally were designed to be used as entertainment on stagecoach journeys (or perhaps ordeals).
