 C F Martin D28V Brazilian Rosewood, 1984

Here we’re looking at a beautiful C F Martin D28V, signed by both C F Martin II and C F Martin III, built during the early part of 1984 at the Martin plant in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. It pairs a Sitka Spruce top with Brazilian Rosewood for the sides, back, and headplate, with Mahogany for the neck, body blocks, linings and back braces. Martin 00-15M Guitar Steel String Guitar Satin

Martin 00-15M Guitar Steel String Guitar Satin

The C.F. Martin 00-15M model continues the Martin tradition with a 00-14 fret body size, solid all-mahogany construction and a rich satin finish.   The Martin 00 body design dates back to 1898 and has been used continually since then. The Martin 00-15M model was introduced in 2009, but Martin has built many mahogany topped guitars in the past, including the 000-18M. Martin’s 15 Series delivers elegant simplicity –  a high quality but simply appointed instrument at an affordable price.

Martin D18 Custom Shop Natural, 2010

Martin D18 Custom Shop Natural, 2010

This Martin D18 Custom Shop is closely based on a classic, and has been one of the most popular guitar designs since its mass market introduction in the early 1930’s. The basic Dreadnought design itself dates from mid 1910’s models built for the Oliver Ditson company. Like many guitar companies, the Martin Custom Shop allows customers to specify particular features, tailoring the instrument to their own needs. Here, this Martin D18 Custom Shop guitar was ordered with just a few modifications – a slightly narrower nut and some D28 appointments, particularly the rosette.

Martin HD-28

Martin HD-28

Hopefully this is an indicator of better things – a brand new Martin HD28, delivered to us this week, one of the first shipments from the builder since the shutdown. The Martin HD-28, using the 14 fret D body and pairing a Sitka Spruce top with Indian Rosewood sides and back, is one of the benchmark American guitars. As the D-28 it’s been in production since 1931, and the D-28H indicates that it has Herringbone pattern purfling around the top.
