Kenny Hill Hauser 37 Classical Guitar, 2005

Here we are looking at a Kenny Hill Hauser 37 Classical guitar, built during 2005 in Ben Lomond California. Kenny Hill has been building since the mid 1970s and is highly respected. The Hauser 37 model recreates a guitar played for many years by Andres Segovia. This Kenny Hill Hauser 37 model features a European Spruce top, Indian Rosewood sides, back, headplate and bridge, with a Mahogany neck and ebony fingerboard. The headstock features a traditional style V joint. The scale length is 650mm and the nut width 51.3mm or 2.02 inches.

William Laskin Cedar Top Classical Guitar, 1987

Here we have a very nice William Laskin Cedar Top and Indian Rosewood classical guitar, built during 1987 at Laskin’s shop in Toronto. One of the world’s premier guitar builders, William Laskin has been building since the early 1970s and early on, as is the case for many other now prominent builders, worked with Jean Larrivee. He is very well known for his spectacular engraved inlay work.

Beardsell 9C Cutaway Nylon String Guitar, 2009

Here is an unusual guitar from one of the hotbeds of the Canadian music scene – a Beardsell 9C cutaway nylon string guitar, built during 2009 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This model currently sells for over $8000 Canadian. Allan Beardsell has been playing and repairing guitars for the last three decades and has been dedicated to building custom instruments for the last fifteen years. His shop, Beardsell Guitars, was long ago in Toronto but is now in Winnipeg, occupying the former Gar Gilles shop, once home of Garnet amplifiers which were well known to many Canadian musicians.

Suhr Modern Custom Claro Walnut HSH, 2015

This lovely Suhr Modern Custom sports a Claro Walnut top on a Spanish Cedar body, paired with a Pau Ferro neck and Macassar Ebony fingerboard! Claro Walnut is also known as ‘California Black Walnut’. Spanish Cedar or ‘Cedro’ is very commonly used for classical guitar necks, and for bodies on Suhr guitars. A quirk of the Suhr process is that the serial number is established at time of order, sometimes well before the instrument construction is begun, let alone finished. While these numbers are consecutive, that doesn’t always match the sequence pieces are completed so dating via serial number is tougher.

Lowden F25 Steel String Guitar Natural, 2000

Here’s a lovely Lowden F25 with Cedar and Indian Rosewood built during 2000 at the current Lowden Guitars work shop in Newtownards, Northern Ireland. The F25 is part of Lowden’s Original Series. Lowden Guitars began in 1974 with George Lowden reaching the decision to build professionally. Opening a shop in Groomsport, County Down, Northern Ireland. Orders grew and in 1980 his Swiss distributors sparked a five-year contract to have Lowden guitars built under license by dedicated workers at S.Yairi in Japan as a way of making these models more available.
