Alhambra Mengual & Margarit C Series Cedar Top Classical, 2011

The Alhambra Mengual & Margarit C Series Concert Classical Guitar, built by master luthiers Jose Mengual and Javier Margarit, feature lattice braced tops and French Polish finish, with the highest quality materials used throughout. Two versions are offered by The Twelfth Fret, with Red Cedar or European Spruce for the top. The Alhambra site lists only the Cedar version, as seen here in this 2011 example.

This Bruce West Classical guitar, bearing the serial 213 IHS and built during 2021 in Sterling, Ontario features a hundred year old Swiss Alpine Spruce top and Brazilian Rosewood sides and back. These guitars tie into an interesting and pivotal period of Canadian luthiery history.

de Jonge Jazz Adjustable Neck Brazilian, 2008

The 2008 de Jonge Jazz seen here is available on custom commission only and features an adjustable neck joint, Bearclaw lattice-braced Spruce top with teardrop soundholes, Brazilian Rosewood three-piece back and sides, and a French Polish finish. Sergei de Jonge has been building for many years, starting with his early work with Jean Larrivee in the Toronto area in the 1970’s.

Osamu Nakade C15 Classical Guitar, 1980

This is a rarity for us – a very nice Osamu Nakade C15 Classical Guitar, with the label signed and dated to 1990 at Tokio Japon. These models are usually found in the Japanese market. This Osamu Nakade C15 classical guitar is in overall good condition, and constructed in the ‘hybrid’ style, with a dovetail-type joint attaching the neck and body, rather than the traditional Spanish ‘Slipper Heel’ that ties the body and neck together.

Larrivee Classical Guitar Cedar Top, 1972

This lovely and well preserved Jean Larrivee classical guitar was built during 1972 in Toronto, likely above the Tarragon Theatre. That location was Larrivee’s first formal shop space separate from his home, and was soon followed by a storefront on Mt. Pleasant Avenue. Jean Larrivée began building at his home around 1967. At that time, if you were interested in building guitars you read the very few books on the subject or met an established builder.
