Gibson Keb Mo Bluesmaster Steel String Guitar, 2011

The Gibson Keb Mo signature Bluesmaster guitar is based on the small-bodied Gibson L-body guitars many blues players used from the 1920’s on. The L-body series weren’t just used by blues players – for many players throughout North America, these were a first serious guitar. The Gibson Keb’ Mo’ sports a Adirondack Red Spruce top with herringbone purfling, mahogany back and sides, and a mahogany neck with a bound East Indian Rosewood fingerboard. The bridge is also rosewood, with a bone saddle. The finish is Gibson’s normal nitrocellulose lacquer sunburst.

Gibson Chet Atkins Country Gentleman Translucent Red, 2001

The Gibson Chet Atkins Country Gentleman was built from 1986 to 2005, but Gibson’s association with Chet Atkins began in 1981 with the CEC Cutaway Electric Classical. While most of the Chet Atkins Country Gentleman guitars were made by Gretsch, that was impossible after 1981 when Gretsch temporarily folded. Gibson stepped in to work with Atkins, and produced a number of excellent, and ground-breaking instruments.

Teye La Gitana Electric Gypsy Mahogany Guitar, 2013

Showing clear influences from the rarefied world of Tony Zemaitis, the Teye La Gitana sports hand built Mahogany construction and custom made engraved components. This guitar plays and balances very well. It rings out cleanly and clearly, and the action is very clean and positive; there’s lots of traction when you grab a string.

Gibson L-0 Mahogany Steel String Guitar, 1928

First appearing in 1926, the Gibson L-0 uses a curvaceous, smaller 13.4 inch wide body. Initially made with Spruce top and Birch back and sides, in 1928 it became all Mahogany until 1933, when production ended. They were built again from 1937 to 1942, but with Spruce for the top again and Mahogany back, sides and neck. On all of them, the fingerboards are Rosewood, which at the time meant Brazilian Rosewood.

Introduced in 1952, the gold-topped Gibson Les Paul quickly underwent a series of changes and in 1954, the top of the line Les Paul Custom ‘Black Beauty’ appeared, clad in a simulated tuxedo.

The late Tal Farlow was one of the great, influential American jazz guitarists and his signature Gibson archtop electric attests to his skill and the size of his hands! The Gibson Tal Farlow, unlike most other Gibson archtops, uses a full 25.5 inch scale length neck on a full 17 inch wide body.
