Breedlove Journey Concert LTD Brazilian Natural, 2016

Breedlove Journey Concert LTD Brazilian Natural, 2016

Built as number 21 of 50, this exceptional Breedlove Journey Concert steel string guitar pairs a Sitka Spruce top with fully documented Brazilian Rosewood for the sides and back. Some years ago, Breedlove found and purchased a relatively large stock of fully documented and hence ‘legal’ Brazilian Rosewood from a vendor in Spain. For 2016, it was decided to make two limited edition models, in a run of 50 guitars each, using some of this material and these were sold with the required CITES documentation.

Gibson Les Paul Melody Maker Manhattan Midnight, 2014

Gibson Les Paul Melody Maker Manhattan Midnight, 2014

The Gibson Les Paul Melody Maker appeared in 2014 as a 120th Anniversary model – a US made, reasonably priced high quality carved-top guitar with a solid history behind the names. The Melody Maker appeared in 1959 and built until 1971 as an entry level, thin slab Mahogany bodied single cutaway model, with one or two single coil pickups and a narrow headstock. The neck was Mahogany with a Rosewood fingerboard. For 1961, a second cutaway was added, but it wasn’t until 1967 that the Melody Maker got the ‘SG’ body shape.

Taylor Custom TF Grand Concert Adirondack and Indian Rosewood, 2014

Taylor Custom TF Grand Concert Adirondack and Indian Rosewood, 2014

Here is a very nice Taylor Custom TF from July 2014, with the TF representing a Twelve Fret Neck. This was an early iteration of this model, including a 12-fret neck, Grand Concert body, Adirondack Spruce top and Indian Rosewood sides and back with an Ebony back wedge. For this Taylor Custom TF, a Grand Concert body with a rounded Venetian cutaway was specified with Indian Rosewood for the sides and back, and Adirondack Spruce for the top and braces.

SOLD‼ Gibson Super 400 Acoustic Archtop Sunburst, 1937

SOLD‼ Gibson Super 400 Acoustic Archtop Sunburst, 1937

The Gibson Super 400 strode above most others when giant archtops roamed the earth, and is still one of the largest production guitars made.   Making its introduction in 1934 as the ‘Super L-5 Deluxe’, the non-cutaway model was quickly joined by a cutaway model, initially named the  Super 400 P for ‘Premiere’.   The ‘400’ designation was originally a reference to the price.  These were top of the line for acoustic archtop guitars, and were played by many top artists – Merle Travis being one.
