Here is an unusual guitar from one of the hotbeds of the Canadian music scene – a Beardsell 9C cutaway nylon string guitar, built during 2009 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This model currently sells for over $8000 Canadian. Allan Beardsell has been playing and repairing guitars for the last three decades and has been dedicated to building custom instruments for the last fifteen years. His shop, Beardsell Guitars, was long ago in Toronto but is now in Winnipeg, occupying the former Gar Gilles shop, once home of Garnet amplifiers which were well known to many Canadian musicians.

Eastman El Rey Mandolin ER-M Classic Finish

Eastman El Rey ER-M Mandolin is very cool instrument that shares DNA with the Eastman archtop El Rey models, creating a contemporary looking electric mandolin. The Eastman El Rey ER-M features a solid one piece mahogany sides and back with a solid maple top. The mahogany provides enhanced mid range warmth and the maple top has a focused note fundamental with clear top end snap. The two f holes provide a bit of traditional mandolin looks but the single cutaway and lower bout design really give it that jazz box feel.

Eastman PCH3 GACE Grand Auditorium Steel String Guitar

The grand auditorium body used on the Eastman PCH3 GACE is comfortable and versatile, and takes cues from another very popular brand; until recently, many guitars were based on classic Martin and Gibson designs. It performs well for both fingerstyle and strumming and the solid Sitka spruce top has good dynamics and clarity.

Gibson HP415 CEX Cutaway Walnut Body Steel String, 2017

Part of the High Performance series introduced for the 2017 model year and currently out of production, the Gibson HP 415 CEX pairs a Sitka Spruce top and Black Walnut for the sides, back, rectangular bridge and fingerboard. The neck is Maple, and the body blocks are Mahogany. As stock, this model carried an L R Baggs Element pickup system, with the controls tucked under the bass edge of the sound hole.
