Deering Sierra Maple 5-String Banjo, 2010

This excellent Deering Sierra banjo dates to December of 2010 and was built at the Deering shop in Spring Garden, California, with capo tacks installed at frets 7, 9 and 10. The Deering Sierra Maple banjo carries a satin finish, and in this case it’s quite clean with no dents or scratches. The metal hardware is nickel plated, and unlike chrome this develops a light patina over time; the plating itself does not show any significant wear. Fret wear is light.

Gibson CS Les Paul Custom Black, 2014

Built at the now-closed Gibson Memphis Custom Shop, this gloss black CS Les Paul Custom dates to 2014 and has all the class and looks of the Custom. The Gibson Les Paul Custom was introduced for the 1954 model year as a ‘dressed up’ version of Gibson’s then-new Les Paul model. The black finish with white multi-ply binding were meant to suggest a tuxedo. At first, it was equipped with a P-90 at the bridge and a ‘Stape Top’ Alnico V pickup at the neck. More important, though, was the wood choice.

Gibson Les Paul Traditional 12 String Model Ebony, 2012

Here is a rarity a 2012 Gibson Les Paul Traditional 12 string, model LPTD12EBCH1 built in a run of 225, 75 in Ebony finish. It is uncommon to see a 12-string Les Paul in the flesh.
Based closely on the six-string Traditional model, the Gibson Les Paul Traditional 12 looks at first just like a black Les Paul – until you notice the headstock with an extra set of gears.

Larrivee LV09 Florentine Cutaway Guitar, 1987

The Larrivee LV09 is a full bodied steel string cutaway guitar, pairing a Sitka Spruce top with Indian Rosewood for the back, sides and head plate. The neck is Mahogany, with Ebony for the bridge and bound fingerboard. Here, the headstock carries a ‘Pegasus’ engraved inlay executed in Mother of Pearl and Abalone. As well, the head stock is bounded by an inlaid silver strip, a design idea from Tony Duggan-Smith that’s still featured on Larrivee models. The tuners are gold plated Grover Imperial models with the Deco Stair-Step metal buttons.

Beard Resoluxe Solidbody Resophonic Electric Guitar Sunburst, 2018

Here’s a very cool instrument – a Paul Beard Resoluxe solidbody resophonic guitar from 2018, with both Fishman Nashville and a Lollar P-90 pickups! A fairly new model for Paul Beard, the Beard Resoluxe pairs a solid Mahogany body with a Mahogany neck, with Ebony for the fingerboard and head plate. A 9.5 inch hand spun biscuit cone occupies the top, and has the Fishman Nashville element on the biscuit.

Boucher Wild Goose 000 Steel String Guitar Sunburst, 2012

The Boucher Wild Goose 000 is built using Adirondack spruce for the top and bracing – the Boucher Shop is located in Quebec’s Adirondack mountains, a bit east of Quebec City on the South Shore, and the spruce is local. These are great playing and sounding instruments. This Boucher Wild Goose 000, built during 2012 is in great condition with only light wear. This model is now discontinued, as Boucher now focuses on Studio, Bluegrass and Heritage Goose models. These guitars are all very well built and definitely worth reviewing if you have the chance.
