 Wes Lambe A-Style Mandolin #26 Sunburst, 2005

Here is a Wes Lambe A-Style Mandolin, #26 in Sunburst and built during 2005 in Chapel Hill NC before Lambe’s move to Hillsborough NC. Wes Lambe has been building professionally since at least 1997 and his instruments are highly respected – and hard to get. At the moment, he has closed his order book to deal with existing orders.

Martin D-35 Dreadnought Steel String Natural, 1968

Martin D-35 Dreadnought Steel String Natural, 1968

Introduced in 1965 and still in production, the Martin D-35 Dreadnought design addressed a practical issue – tighter wood supplies. Demand for the very popular D-28 model was high but the larger sections of Rosewood – Brazilian, at the time – were in short supply.

Ibanez 2461 Johnny Smith ‘Lawsuit Era’ Archtop Electric Natural, 1975

Ibanez 2461 Johnny Smith 'Lawsuit Era' Archtop Electric Natural, 1975

Here we have an Ibanez 2461 Johnny Smith style, full body cutaway archtop, built in Japan likely during 1975. The model was built until 1977. Typical of the early 1975 period, it has no serial number – these started appearing on the back of the headstock late 1975. It is largely original, though it has a slight modification – the output jack was a mini-plug mounted on the pickguard, and this was removed and a standard 1/4 inch jack installed to the lower treble side.
