Here’s an unusual piece – a Mayones Regius Pepper 7 String neck-through model with Trans Black ‘Eye’ Poplar top, hand built during 2012 at the Mayones shop in Gdansk, Poland. Mayones has been building higher end instruments since 1982 and while they offer a range of ‘standard’ guitar and bass models, they also offer custom builds through their Custom Shop and a build-to-order programme.

Martin OM-42 Steel String Guitar Natural, 2007

The Martin OM-42 is a fantastic guitar, based on the classic and very successful OM or Orchestra Model introduced in the very early 1930’s as banjo players migrated to guitar. It is extremely well-balanced and quite loud – an excellent choice for both fingerstyle and flatpicking, in both solo and ensemble contexts.

Gibson Goldtop Les Paul Classic Limited Edition with Bigsby, 2017

This Gibson GoldTop Les Paul Classic Limited Edition is from 2017, with a Bigsby B7 unit added, apparently at the factory using Vibramate adapters, and with locking Grover RotoMatic tuners. Vibramate makes a number of adapters that allow reversible installation of US-made Bigsby products onto a wide range of guitar models, without permanent modifications to the instrument.

This Martin D-76 Bicentennial No.1443, is a Limited Edition guitar built during 1975 and 1976 in commemoration of the two hundredth anniversary of the United States of America. The first 200 Martin D-76 Bicentennial models appeared during 1975, with another 1,976 completing the run during 1976.

Larrivee Long Scale Classical Natural Finish, 1975

This Larrivee Long Scale Classical guitar is in natural finish and built while Jean Larrivee’s shop was still in Toronto; his helpers at this point included William ‘Grit’ Laskin, David Wren, Linda Manzer and George Gray. The Larrivee shops have been training grounds for many now-prominent builders.

Guild X-500 Archtop Electric Sunburst, 1979

The Guild X-500 archtop electric was a single-cutaway, fully hollow 17 inch wide archtop electric model built from 1953 to 1995, and again for a year or two until being discontinued in 2015. This example dates to 1979 and comes from the Westerly, Rhode Island plant. The Guild X-500 archtop is intended as an electric model, and Guild followed the proven pattern of using laminate woods for the body to reduce feedback.
