!!! Gibson Les Paul Custom Cherryburst, 1979

!!! Gibson Les Paul Custom Cherryburst, 1979

Here we’re looking at a very nice 1979 Gibson Les Paul Custom in Cherry Burst, with almost all its original components and case. The variation from original is the addition of a set of Gold-plated Schaller Straplocks, with the strap attachments mounted on the included leather strap.   This guitar dates to February 07 1979 and was built at the historic Parsons Street plant in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Les Paul Custom was introduced in 1954, along with the flat-top ‘budget’ Les Paul Junior; the Les Paul Special appeared in 1955, and the Standard in 1958.

Built as number 21 of 50, this exceptional Breedlove Journey Concert steel string guitar pairs a Sitka Spruce top with fully documented Brazilian Rosewood for the sides and back. Some years ago, Breedlove found and purchased a relatively large stock of fully documented and hence ‘legal’ Brazilian Rosewood from a vendor in Spain. For 2016, it was decided to make two limited edition models, in a run of 50 guitars each, using some of this material and these were sold with the required CITES documentation.

Alembic Spoiler Bass 4-String Natural, 1983

Alembic Spoiler Bass 4-String Natural, 1983

Here is a rarity – an Alembic Spoiler 4-string bass, built during 1983 in Santa Rosa, California, with Maple neck-through construction, low-impedance pickups and active circuitry. Alembic, founded in early 1969 as an audio consulting firm – the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane were key early clients – introduced the use of active electronics and low-impedance pickups in musical instruments. Alembic guitars and basses, being fully hand-made of top quality materials and with parts like the pickups, brass nuts, bridges and tailpieces being built in-house, tended to be expensive and so were used primarily by top touring and recording artists.

Heritage H150 Custom Classic Goldtop, 2003

Heritage H150 Custom Classic Goldtop, 2003

The Heritage H150 is based on the classic Les Paul design, and built in the former Gibson plant in Parsons Street in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This tried and true design features a figured Maple cap on a Mahogany body, Mahogany for the neck and Indian Rosewood for the bound fingerboard. The dimensions and finishes also draw from the same source, and the tapered Heritage headstock is one of the few visual cues as to what these excellent guitars are.
