Hopefully this is an indicator of better things – a brand new Martin HD28, delivered to us this week, one of the first shipments from the builder since the shutdown. The Martin HD-28, using the 14 fret D body and pairing a Sitka Spruce top with Indian Rosewood sides and back, is one of the benchmark American guitars. As the D-28 it’s been in production since 1931, and the D-28H indicates that it has Herringbone pattern purfling around the top.

The Taylor T5z Sapele Classic is an extremely versatile, lightweight and thin bodied acoustic / electric guitar designed like the T5 to replace several guitars on a bandstand. The model came into being when budgets for large tours were slashed and guitarists had to condense what they carried. The Taylor T5z Sapele Classic is an inch or so narrower than the T5, but offers a similar feature set. The semi hollow body is made with Sapele, and the neck is Mahogany with an Ebony fingerboard and bridge.

MORE →The Deering Boston 5-String Banjo was one of Deering’s earlier original designs and aimed to deliver the tonal effects of a quality heavy wood rim and tone ring at a significantly lower price. To do this, Deering uses a rolled steel rim with a mass equivalent to the traditional components. As well, traditional Banjo style planetary tuners have been replaced with standard guitar-type tuners.

This body shape is similar to a classical body shape and features a Symmetrical Parabolic X-Bracing pattern. This helps to provide an exceptionally well balanced instrument with great sustain and dynamics. Over the last forty years this model has been embraced by professional and serious amateur musicians around the world as possibly the most versatile flattop steel string guitar design in our business.
