Heritage Prospect Thinline Burnt Amber, 2014

Heritage Prospect Thinline Burnt Amber, 2014

Heritage guitars, including the Heritage Prospect thinline archtop electric, are built at the historic Gibson plant in Kalamazoo, Michigan. These are very well made instruments, with a high level of consistent quality. The Heritage Prospect is based on the classic thinline semi-hollow archtop design pioneered in 1958 by Gibson with the ES-335.

Gibson Memphis ES-335 Custom with Bigsby Sunburst, 2009

Gibson Memphis ES-335 Custom with Bigsby Sunburst, 2009

Dating to April 23 2009, this Gibson Memphis ES-335 Custom features beautifully flamed Maple and a factory installed Bigsby B7. I think this is one of the best looking 335’s I’ve seen for some time, and the dual-roller Bigsby is far enough back from the bridge to provide a relatively shallow break angle. This shallow angle really improves the smoothness of both arm movement and return to pitch.

   Gibson ES-335TDC Cherry Red, 1966

Here’s a very nice Thinline, Double Pickup, Cherry finish Gibson ES-335TDC, Union Made during 1966 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Thinline concept was introduced in 1955 to produce a more compact hollowbody archtop electric instrument less prone to feedback. For the 1958 model year, this was combined with a solid, very feedback resistant center block to create the revolutionary semi-hollow ES-335 – which also carried Gibson’s new humbucking pickups.
