The Fender Mustang was added to the Fender program in 1964 and was aimed at starter and intermediate guitar players. The model evolved from the Musicmaster and Duo-Sonic student models and had a similar body shape, short 22.5″ or 24 inch scale length neck and pickup(s).

Introduced in 1997 as part of a Signature Series, the Fender Jimmy Vaughn Tex-Mex Strat is still built in Ensenada, Mexico. Jimmy Vaughn is of course Stevie Ray’s older brother, and from 1974 to 1990 played in The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Based on a later 1950’s Stratocaster, the Fender Jimmy Vaughn Tex-Mex Strat uses an Alder body paired with a one-piece Maple neck.

This Fender American Standard Stratocaster HSS features a ShawBucker paired with two Custom Shop Fat 50’s, and a Sienna Burst Ash body. Dating to February of 2015 and built in Corona, California, this very well preserved example is a very comfortable, versatile guitar that covers most musical bases.

From the Corona Custom Shop, this Fender 51 NoCaster Relic sports a Surf Green finish, though with one exception a range of custom colours including Surf Green were introduced in 1956. The exception was a white 1951 NoCaster with gold hardware, for Oscar Moore, Nat King Cole’s guitarist.

Here’s an interesting Fender 1952 Telecaster Vintage Reissue from the original 1982 Vintage Series built in Fullerton, California while CBS still owned the company. The Fender 1952 Telecaster Vintage Reissue body is lightweight Ash paired with a one-piece Maple neck having the Walnut insert for the truss rod cavity. The ‘Butterscotch’ finish is very much like the original 1952 models, and is nitrocellulose lacquer.
