Fender Telecaster Deluxe Mocha, 1975

Built from 1972 to 1979 along with the Custom, the Fender Telecaster Deluxe had a number of unique features, blending influences from both Fender and Gibson products. Starting with the basic Tele design, the Fender Telecaster Deluxe added a pair of Fender’s new Seth Lover – designed Wide Range Humbuckers plus individual volume and tone controls, and the bridge from a Hard-Tail Stratocaster, with the ‘new’ larger pickguard and higher-mounted pickup selector mostly shared with the Custom.

Fender Precision Bass Sunburst, 1973

It’s hard to overstate the impact of the Fender Precision Bass. Deceptively simple, it changed the way popular music is performed and recorded. Here we’re looking at a sunburst, Rosewood fingerboard Fender Precision Bass, built in Fullerton, California during the era of CBS’s Fender ownership. It is dated to 1971 based on its features and its serial number plate. The body is Alder, and the neck Maple with an Indian Rosewood fingerboard.

Music Man Sabre 1 Guitar Walnut, 1978

Built by Leo Fender’s CLF Research for Music Man from 1978 to 1982, the Music Man Sabre 1 featured an Ash body with 12″ radius Maple neck, humbucking pickups and innovative, versatile switching and active controls powered by a 9v battery. It has two features that Leo Fender had introduced just before selling Fender to CBS – the truss rod located at the head, and the three-bolt Micro Tilt adjustment.

G&L ASAT Classic Trans Red, 2006

The G&L ASAT Classic continues Leo Fender’s original design, the classic ‘T-Style’ introduced in 1951. This example dates to 2006 and sports a Trans-Red finish. The ‘ASAT’ name refers to a an ASAT (Anti-Satellite) missile system! Drawing closely from Leo’s classic layout, this G&L ASAT Classic pairs a Swamp Ash body with a Mahogany neck with colour-matched headstock.

This G&L ASAT Classic Special Build was a 2004 limited edition and features a tinted-finish Maple neck with Rosewood fingerboard, a weight-relieved Swamp Ash body and a nice Sunburst finish.

The ‘ASAT’ name refers to a an ASAT (Anti-Satellite) missile system! Drawing closely from Leo’s classic layout, the G&L ASAT Classic pairs a Swamp Ash body with a Maple neck, in this case with light birds-eye figuring.
