Gibson ES-335TDC Cherry Red, 1966

Here’s a very nice Thinline, Double Pickup, Cherry finish Gibson ES-335TDC, Union Made during 1966 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Thinline concept was introduced in 1955 to produce a more compact hollowbody archtop electric instrument less prone to feedback. For the 1958 model year, this was combined with a solid, very feedback resistant center block to create the revolutionary semi-hollow ES-335 – which also carried Gibson’s new humbucking pickups.

Gibson J-160E Electric FlatTop Sunburst, 1956

Introduced in 1954, the Gibson J-160E flat top electric turned out to be one of the more successful of Gibson’s slope-shouldered dreadnoughts. Intended as a companion to the then-new Les Paul solidbody, the Gibson J-160E was one of the first mass production electrified steel string guitars. This model was discontinued in 1979, and is occasionally re-issued.

Gibson Nighthawk ST Standard 2-pickup Sunburst, 1998

The Gibson Nighthawk was produced in three versions, the Custom (CST or CST-3) the Standard (ST or ST-3) and the Special (SP or SP-3). In all cases, the -3 indicates that the guitar has three pickups. The model was originally built from 1993 to 1998, and again from 2009 to 2020. Unusually for Gibson models, the Nighthawk has a fixed bridge but it’s a string-through model with fully adjustable saddles.

Gibson ES-295 Archtop Electric Double Gold, 1953

This is a wonderful rarity. Built during 1953, this is an early Gibson ES-295 in good, clean and largely original condition, showing some honest finish wear and tear from real use over the decades. It’s easy to confuse the Gibson ES-295 with the classic ES-175, and there’s a good reason – they are the same guitar, but the ES-295 has a double gold finish and when introduced, two pickups instead of one.

Gibson MHB Roy Orbison ES-335 Black, 2006

This is a rarity! The Gibson MHB Roy Orbison was based on the early 1980s ES-335 Orbison used in 1987 concerts and with The Travelling Wilburys. 70 were made, this is #37, and the MHB stands for ‘Memphis Hand Built’.

Gibson Thunderbird Bass Tobacco Burst, 2015

Introduced in 1963 as a companion to the new Firebird, the Gibson Thunderbird bass shares the same through-neck construction concepts. The original production of the ‘Reverse’ Gibson Thunderbird, like the Firebird, ran from 1963 to 1965.
