Gibson Les Paul DC Standard Amber, 2005

Drawing from the late 1950s double cutaway models, the Gibson Les Paul DC Standard features a heavily figured Maple cap on a Mahogany slab body, and Maple neck with bound, 24 fret Rosewood fingerboard and gold plated hardware. The hardware on this example is gold plated, with Grover Roto-Matic tuners at the head and an ABR/Stop Tailpiece set on the body. The neck pickup is shifted slightly towards the bridge, compared to a single cutaway Les Paul, to accommodate the longer 24 fret fingerboard. A pair of humbucking pickups feed to a standard 3-way switch, from there to a single Volume and Tone control, and finally to a side-mounted output jack.

The Taylor 512ce is a dream guitar for the fingerstyle player. The small grand concert body shape provides a very compact and comfortable playing experience and requires less energy to get the top moving. This allows players with a light touch to get a full sound from a smaller body. The Western Red Cedar top of the Taylor 512ce has lovely touch sensitivity and a warm midrange. Red Cedar is used extensively on higher end classical guitars, as its voice develops faster than Spruce and is very responsive.

The Fender Eric Johnson Stratocaster maple is a beautiful guitar from Fenders signature series. Texas guitar virtuoso Eric Johnson is well known for his incredible playing and meticulous nature when crafting his tone. To that end this signature guitar has been created with all of his personal specifications. Eric is very fond of 1957 Stratocaster features and this guitar has a number of them.

Eastman T486B Thinline Archtop Electric Vintage Red

The Eastman T486B Thinline is an excellent take on the classic semi-hollow design introduced by Ted McCarty, president of Gibson, with the 1958 ES-335. Like most other versions of this design, the Eastman T486B uses pressed Maple Laminate for the top, back and sides, with a Maple block running down the center of the body. The top has a pair of F holes, and here they are bound. On the Eastman, the neck is Maple with a bound Ebony fingerboard sporting Split Block Parallelogram inlays (similar to an ES-345).

Martin D28 Marquis 1935 Style Sunburst, 2014

The Martin D28 Marquis, here with Adirondack Spruce top, was the top shelf of the Style 28 Dreadnought line, re-creating historic designs with premium materials. The Marquis and Golden Era models went out of production in 2017, and were replaced with the Authentic series. Here we’re looking at a Martin D28 Marquis, built during 2014 at the Martin plant in Nazareth, Pennsylvania.

Collings MT A Style Mandolin Satin Sunburst, 2019

The Collings MT A Style mandolin is the entry point for Collings mandolins, and its lack of decoration doesn’t hide the quality of the instrument or the care with which it was built. The A Style mandolin appeared in the closing days of the 19th century as part of Orville Gibson’s revolutionary introduction of violin making principles to mandolin construction. The results were such a dramatic improvement that the centuries old European bowl-back design almost died out in short order.
