Takamine LTD 2012C Michi Black, 2012

The nylon string Takamine LTD 2021C ‘Michi’ was one of the 2012 limited edition models from Takamine, paired with a steel-string version. ‘Michi’ translates to ‘Path’ or ‘Road’, and the intention was to commemorate Takamine’s 50th anniversary. The Takamine LTD 2021C ‘Michi’ model is unusual in a number of ways. It is a long-scale – 660mm or just shy of 25 inches – nylon string guitar with solid Spruce top and solid Indian Rosewood for the bridge and back (Laminate for the sides), with Mahogany for the body blocks and neck and Ebony fingerboard.

Martin D-41 Dreadnought Natural, 2000

Here we have a fairly rare item; though the Martin D-41 is a production model, they are not common and delivery times for new models can be lengthy. This example dates to August of 2000 and was built at Nazareth, PA.
The Martin D-41 is based on the classic, proven square-shouldered Martin Dreadnought design, and carries the ’41’ grade appointments- abalone for the purfling around the soundhole and top but not the fingerboard tag, C. F. Martin logo and hexagonal position markers.

Martin D-18 Dreadnought Figured Natural, 2019

The Martin D-18 Dreadnought is one of the truly iconic guitars and its popularity has also made it one of the most copied. Originally designed to compete with instruments like banjos on unamplified bandstands, its somewhat bass-biased tone makes it ideal as a rhythm instrument, while the Mahogany back and sides add high end sparkle for fingerstyle.

Gibson Les Paul Special Tobacco Sunburst, 1977

Introduced in 1955 as an intermediate model, the two-pickup, single cutaway Gibson Les Paul Special’s main difference from the GoldTop Les Paul was the lack of a carved Maple top. This model followed the entry level, single P-90 pickup Les Paul Junior that appeared in 1954. Both models used ‘slab’ Mahogany bodies, Mahogany necks and Rosewood fingerboards – at the time, Brazilian Rosewood.

Martin D-18 Dreadnought Natural, 2013

With a design dating back to 1917, the Martin D-18 Dreadnought has been one of the bases of the Martin line since its official launch in 1931. The Martin D-18 Dreadnought shares a number of core design elements with all other Martin Dreadnoughts, a large body with Mahogany neck. What changes from model to model is the wood selection and appointments.

The Larrivee L30 Classical Guitar Natural, now discontinued, is a straightforward Spruce and Rosewood classical guitar showing Jean Larrivee’s background in this genre. When learning guitar building, Larrivee spent a good amount of time with Edgar Monch during Monch’s time in Toronto, and learned much about guitar construction from him.
