Gibson R8 Les Paul Standard Reissue Sunburst, 2014

Gibson R8 Les Paul Standard Reissue Sunburst, 2014

The Gibson R8 Les Paul Standard Reissue is as close as many of us can now get to the iconic late 1950’s sunburst Les Paul. Built following the original patterns, the Gibson R8 pairs a book-matched flame-Maple top on a tropical Mahogany back, with Mahogany neck and Indian Rosewood fingerboard.

Martin D35 with LR Baggs M1a Pickup Natural, 2008

Martin D35 with LR Baggs M1a Pickup Natural, 2008

The Martin D35, recognizable for its distinctive three-piece back, has been part of Martin’s standard lineup since its 1965 introduction. The design was generated for a practical reason – it allowed use of smaller sections of Rosewood that could not fit on a two-piece back as used on the D-28 or D-45. While the D28 and D35 share many construction features, the D35 can have a bit more tonal range and better developed low and high end response and balance.

Gibson Les Paul Classic 60s Reissue Ebony, 2002

The Gibson Les Paul Classic 60s Reissue appeared during 1990 as a reissue of the 1960 Les Paul model, with its key feature being a slim neck profile. This model has been produced in three stretches – from 1990 to 1998, from 2000 to 2008, and since 2014. The headstock decal originally read ‘Les Paul Model’ as the originals did, and this was changed to ‘Les Paul Classic’ in 1993. The pickguard is also engraved with ‘1960’.

Gretsch Anniversary 6118 Two Tone Smoke Green 1964

Gretsch Anniversary 6118 Two Tone Smoke Green 1964

Here we have a very nice Gretsch Anniversary 6118 in Two Tone Smoke Green, built during 1964 in Brooklyn, New York. The Gretsch Anniversary Models were introduced as lower cost versions of the popular 6120 during 1958 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the company’s 1883 founding. This Gretsch Anniversary 6118 dates to 1964 and is in very nice condition, with no binding deterioration. The Two Tone Smoke Green finish shows natural and expected lacquer checking but the colours are rich and vibrant with very little physical damage otherwise. This guitar appears to be all original, with one subtle modification – the black plastic pickup inserts have been removed and flipped to be all black, with the ‘Gretsch’ logo hidden and facing down.
