Gibson Early J45 Slope Shoulder Sunburst, 1997

Gibson Early J45 Slope Shoulder Sunburst, 1997

Built during 1997 and 1998, the Gibson Early J45 was designed by Ren Ferguson as a re-issue of the 1952 to 1954 J-45. The same treatment was seen in the ‘Early Hummingbird’. These models were forerunners to later ‘vintage recreations’ including the Historic, Authentic, Legend, True Vintage and New Vintage lines.

Takamine Toby Keith EF250TK Sunburst, 2016

Here is a stunning jumbo body guitar ideal for stage performance – a Takamine Toby Keith, based on the EF250 he played for many years and is now a signature model.  Drawing from classic Jumbo American guitars like the J-200 and F-500, the Takamine Toby Keith pairs a solid Sitka Spruce top with Flamed Maple for the cutaway, 17 inch wide body. The neck is Maple with Ebony used for the bound fingerboard, and Rosewood for the top-loading bridge. The inlays are Mother of Pearl and Abalone, with an Abalone ring at the rosette.

Gibson SJ200 Jumbo Steel String Sunburst, 1951

Gibson SJ200 Jumbo Steel String Sunburst, 1951

Introduced in 1938 and in constant production since then, the Gibson SJ200 is one of the largest and most recognisable steel string models. Here we’re looking at a very nicely preserved Gibson SJ200 dating to 1951 and built at the Parsons Street plant in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It is in overall rather good condition with some wear, but less than we often see on guitars approaching the 70 year old mark.

Taylor LKSM Leo Kottke Signature Model 12 String Natural, 2000

Taylor LKSM Leo Kottke Signature Model 12 String Natural, 2000

The Taylor LKSM – the Leo Kottke Signature Model – is now discontinued but is one of the best choices for fast, articulated 12-string guitar styles. Based on a Jumbo body with an Venetian cutaway, the Taylor LKSM pairs a Sitka Spruce top with Tropical Mahogany for the sides, back, body blocks and neck. The fingerboard and bridge are Ebony, with Indian Rosewood for the head plate and body binding.  The tuners here are gold-plated Grover mini Rot0-Matics, though the specs call for Taylor branded tuners.    As stock, this is a fully acoustic model with no electronics.

Gibson J185 12 String Guitar Maple Natural, 2001

The Gibson J185 12 String was built in Bozeman Montana from 2001 to 2004 and as the name suggests puts the classic J-185 into a 12 string configuration. The J-185 model was originally built from 1951 to 1959 and featured a smaller body than the J-200, but also used Maple sides and back with Sitka Spruce top.
