Larrivee D10 Dreadnought Steel String Guitar Natural, 1994

The Larrivee D10 is based on the most popular guitar design – the classic D body square shoulder dreadnought that first appeared in the early 1930s. The Dreadnought itself was originally built around 1917 for the Oliver Ditson company, but as a round shouldered model. The first Square shoulder dreadnoughts appeared around 1931, under Martin’s own name and with the D model designation.

Larrivee L 02 Mahogany Steel String Guitar, 2010

The Larrivee L 02 Mahogany is now discontinued, but was Larrivee’s entry point for those wanting high quality steel string acoustic guitars. The L-02 was a slope shoulder dreadnought design. Here we’re looking at a Larrivee L 02, dating to May 12 2010 at Larrivee’s workshop in Victoria, BC, three years before all Larrivee manufacturing moved to Oxnard, California.

Larrivee OO Body Steel String Guitar Rosewood, 1976

Here is a lovely item from the past – a Larrivee OO body steel string guitar from 1976 in Toronto, just as The Twelfth Fret opened, with signatures from both Jean Larrivee (on the label) and Tony Duggan-Smith (discreetly engraved in the headstock inlay). At the time this guitar was built, I was just moving to The Twelfth Fret from the late Darryl Williams’ shop in Schomberg, Ontario, as the first Twelfth Fret employee.

The Ted Megas Athena is one of a line of custom archtop guitars built by Ted Megas in Portland, Oregon. Like many other custom builders, Megas was long interested in guitar music, playing in various bands around the United States and working other woodworking jobs as necessary.

Ron Belanger M12 12 String Guitar, 2008

The Belanger M12 comes from the workshop of Ron Belanger near Orillia, Ontario, between lakes Simcoe and Couchiching. A woodworker for many years, Belanger started building guitars in 1998, and also builds Irish Bouzoukis and resophonic guitars. His influences clearly include top Canadian luthiers including Grit Laskin.

Oskar Graf Classical Guitar Indian Rosewood, 2005

On August 20, 2019 /

Built during 2005, this Oskar Graf classical guitar pairs a bearclaw-figured Sitka Spruce top with Indian Rosewood for the sides, back, headplate and bridge. The neck is Mahogany with an Ebony fingerboard. The nut and saddle are bone, and the other hardware is a set of Graf tuners, hand built by Oskar’s brother, Jorg.
