Gibson Memphis ES330 VOS Sunburst, 2013

Gibson Memphis ES330 VOS Sunburst, 2013

The Gibson Memphis ES330 VOS model is now discontinued, along with the Memphis plant, but is a great re-creation of a late 1950’s ES-330. Introduced in 1959, the ES-330 took visual cues from the new and very successful ES-335, but is uses a fully hollow body without a solid center block. A pair of under-wound P-90s provide great tone. Until about 1963, the ES330 and its cousin the Epiphone Casino set the neck joint at the 16th fret but subsequently the joint was shifted to the 19th fret, allowing easier access to higher frets.

Fender Purple Sparkle Telecaster Custom Shop, 2003

This Fender Purple Sparkle Telecaster was built during 2003 at Corona California Custom Shop and aside from the spectacular finish features a 50’s profile Birds-Eye Maple neck! Drawing from the popularity of wild automotive finishes in the 1950’s and 1960’s, Fender has offered many custom finishes, some based on the ‘Candy’ concept of using a metal-flake base layer with a translucent colour over top.

** Gibson Les Paul Recording Model Natural, 1972

** Gibson Les Paul Recording Model Natural, 1972

Built from 1971 to 1979, the Gibson Les Paul Recording model sported the features most desired by Les Paul himself, but unfortunately this did not translate into sales success. Still, even this low selling model was copied by Japanese builders during the ‘Lawsuit Era’. Constructed during the Norlin years with strong references to the original Les Paul Custom models, the Gibson Les Paul Recording model featured a Mahogany body with carved Mahogany top – unlike the Gold Top and Standard models, which had Maple caps on a Mahogany slab. At this point, Gibson was using what’s come to be called ‘Pancake’ bodies, with at least two narrower layers of Mahogany.

Santa Cruz 1929-OO LH Left Handed Steel String Guitar, 2013

Santa Cruz 1929-OO LH Left Handed Steel String Guitar, 2013

Here’s a beautiful, very good condition Santa Cruz 1929-OO LH Left Handed, Mahogany body OO size guitar 12 fret guitar, patterned on the classic simplicity of 1929 models. It is unusual to find an available left handed guitar of this quality. This exceptional Santa Cruz 1929-OO LH guitar uses the OO, 12 fret body size and a 12 fret neck, as was universal before Martin introduced the 14-fret neck for guitarists migrating from banjos. The top, back, sides, neck, body binding and body blocks are Mahogany, with Ebony for the pyramid bridge and unbound fingerboard.

Taylor T5Z Classic Mahogany, 2019

  Taylor T5Z Classic Mahogany, 2019

The Taylor T5Z Classic is a scaled down version of the successful T5 hybrid acoustic-electric models introduced in 2005 and used on many stages. These models were created to meet the needs of ‘downsizing’ touring guitarists who could no longer carry as many guitars as they wanted. Here we’re looking at a Taylor T5Z Classic dating to May 10, 2019 and built at the Taylor shop in El Cajon, California.

Fender Stratocaster 1961 Sunburst

 Fender Stratocaster 1961 Sunburst

Here is a wonderful rarity – a Fender Stratocaster 1961 model in its original sunburst and with a Rosewood ‘slab’ fingerboard on a Maple neck with heavy Birds-Eye figuring. Introduced in 1954 as a follow up to the highly successful Telecaster, the Stratocaster had only minor alterations until mid 1959 when it gained a major new feature – a Rosewood fingerboard – taken from the new-for-1958 Jazzmaster.
