Huss and Dalton DS Custom Brazilian Rosewood, 2008

Huss and Dalton DS Custom Brazilian Rosewood, 2008

The Huss and Dalton DS Custom is based a Dreadnought body with Slope or rounded shoulders, and customized a number of ways. Here, an Adirondack Spruce top is paired with Brazilian Rosewood for the back and sides. Built during 2008, this Huss & Dalton DS Custom is in great condition and delivers outstanding tone. These guitars are great to start with, but this example is something else. It’s full, rich and warm with plenty of sparkle and separation. It also plays very well.

C. F. Martin D12-35 12 String Round Shoulder Dreadnought, 1969

  C. F. Martin D12-35 12 String Round Shoulder Dreadnought, 1969

Introduced in 1965, the Martin D12-35 is the 12-string version of the classic Martin D35, visually notable with its three piece Rosewood back. The three-piece design was introduced partly because of simple market forces – larger sized pieces of Rosewood, particularly Brazilian, were becoming scarcer and more expensive. By 1967, Martin was phasing out the use of Brazilian Rosewood, but it appeared on guitars into 1970 until the stocks were completely exhausted.

Collings OM1A Julian Lage Signature, 2018

The Collings OM1A Julian Lage signature model, using the A for Adirondack Spruce top option, is an exceptional guitar and was the last collaboration by Bill Collings before his death in 2017. Barely used 2018 OM1A Julian Lage Signature model, in pristine condition with the original case. This guitar has been barely played – the owner bought two, and ultimately decided to keep only one.

Gibson Southern Jumbo Steel String Guitar Sunburst, 2004

Gibson Southern Jumbo Steel String Guitar Sunburst, 2004

The Gibson Southern Jumbo is closely related to the classic J-45, and at times the differences have been mostly market driven and cosmetic. Apparently named to appeal to Gibson dealers in the American South – referring to the Mason-Dixon line, the Southern Jumbo or SJ uses slope-shoulder, spruce and mahogany body construction. The key differences are additional binding on the fingerboard and split-parallelogram position markers.

M. Sakurai No.8 Classical Guitar, 1977

 M. Sakurai No.8 Classical Guitar, 1977

The M. Sakurai No.8 classical guitar was part of a line of guitars built by Masaki Sakurai as he was learning in the workshop run by his uncle, Masaru Kohno. The M. Sakurai No.8 is built using solid Cedar tops and laminate Indian Rosewood for the back and sides, and solid Rosewood for the headplate and bridge. The Mahogany neck carries an Ebony fingerboard, and is joined to the body with a dovetail joint, departing from the ‘slipper heel’ found on traditionally built Spanish guitars.
