Masaru Kohno Special Brazilian Classical, 1990

This is something special – a Masaru Kohno Special Brazilian Rosewood guitar, at or near the top of his line. The ‘Special’ model was originally named the ‘No.50’ and its bridge has a distinctive forward sweep. Signed by M. Kohno and dated to 1990, this well preserved professional grade instrument features a seven-fan European Spruce top paired with Brazilian Rosewood for the sides, back, heel cap, head plate and bridge.

Larrivee L-05 Spruce and Mahogany Natural, 1994

The Larrivee L-05 uses the popular L-body design and pairs Sitka Spruce with Mahogany providing a rich, even blend of tonal response with plenty of sparkle, volume and projection. This natural-finish example dates to 1994 and was built at Jean Larrivee’s shop in Victoria, British Columbia.

CFox SJX Small Jumbo Guitar by Charles Fox Natural, 2002

This CFox SJX, is a ‘Small Jumbo with Vintage X Brace’, production model built under the supervision of luthier Charles Fox in Healdsburg, California. It was sold new in February 2003 at The Twelfth Fret and is in overall good condition. This instrument features a Sitka Spruce top, Indian Rosewood sides and back, Mahogany body blocks and neck, and Ebony fingerboard and bridge. An L R Baggs pickup system has been installed, with the volume control on the bass edge of the sound hole.

Belanger Celtic Bouzouki Natural, 2007

This Ron Belanger Celtic Bouzouki was built during 2007 in Orillia, Ontario and is in overall good condition with a great sound. Pairing a Sitka Spruce top with Mahogany for the body and neck, this lovely piece uses Ebony for the head plate, bridge, and fingerboard. The rosette is a nicely contrasting section of Spalted Maple.

PRS Santana MD Multi-Dimensional Amber, 2008

In 2008, the PRS Santana MD was released – the MD standing for ‘multi dimensional’. The key difference is in the wiring – there’s an extra switch that enables the ‘Multidimensional Voice Control’ circuit, allowing a range of new tones. In the ‘off’ position, the controls work as standard master volume and tone controls. The PRS MD circuit is powered by a pair of standard 9v batteries, but if the batteries are not used or lose enough charge, the switch will silence the guitar, rather like a standby or kill-switch.

Collings OM2H Orchestra Model Natural, 2012

The Collings OM2H is based on the venerable ‘Orchestra Model’ design, which is a bit bigger than the 000 size and has a longer scale length – 25.5 inches instead of 24.9. This model pairs a Sitka Spruce top with Indian Rosewood for the back and sides. The neck is Mahogany, as are the body blocks, and Ebony is used for the bridge and bound fingerboard and head plate.
