An entirely new model in a unique yet functional shape, the Backline Ronan is a straight ahead rock guitar with just what’s needed. Tim Ronan builds guitars a bit north west of Toronto, and has been developing unique models that put function and durability first. The eponymous Backline Ronan is the result of a number of experiments with angular bodies, looking for a mixture of appearance, comfort, balance and light weight.

Ernie Ball Music Man Axis SuperSport Translucent Teal, 2001

This Ernie Ball Axis SuperSport dates to October 26 2001 at the MusicMan plant in San Luis Obispo, California and carries a lovely translucent Teal Maple top and matching headstock; as is usually the case for these models, the Basswood back of the body has a gloss Black finish while the neck is treated with a combination of oil and wax. It is in very good clean condition with very light wear.

The original Michael Messer Pod case – soft sided with dense foam – is included. Michael Messer is a well known English guitarist, who has over the years focused on steel and slide guitars. His line of resophonic guitars draws from his decades of experience playing these instruments, and aims towards an affordable but high quality guitar.

Gibson Les Paul Studio Lite M3 Trans Red, 1992

The Gibson Les Paul Studio Lite M3, or M-III was built from 1992 to 1994, and featured an HSH pickup configuration, five way switch plus another toggle, and a lighter weight body. The lighter weight was achieved by chambering the body, then refilling the chambers with inserts of lighter wood. Gibson named the inserted wood ‘Chromyte’ after its latin name, Ochroma lagopus, but it’s more commonly referred to as Balsa.

Fender Tele Sonic Chambered Solidbody Sunburst, 2003

The Fender Tele Sonic was built from 1998 to 2003, combining elements of several classic designs – the construction methods of the Fender Telecaster, the scale length of a Gibson style guitar, and a pair of DeArmond 2K single coil pickups, like a Gretsch Jet. There are other notable differences from stock models to the Fender Tele Sonic. The body is Honduran Mahogany, with tone chambers added. This would typically mean that, like the Telecaster Thinline, the top of the body blank is sliced off, tone and wiring chambers routed, the cap is restored and the body finished.

Collings I35 LC Deluxe Thinline Archtop Guitar Sunburst 2015

This is a treat – a Collings I35 LC Deluxe thinline archtop electric in a traditional sunburst, one of the best renderings of this concept available. This model draws from the iconic and once revolutionary Gibson ES-335 series, with a Maple laminate body around a Maple center block, and Mahogany neck with Indian Rosewood fingerboard. It’s wired using a 1950’s style layout, with a pair of Lollar Imperial Low-Wind humbuckers. This Collings I35 LC Deluxe example was built during 2015 at the Collings shop in Austin, Texas. It is in all original, very good condition. While it’s been played, wear is light.
