Ibanez Musician MC500 Solidbody Dark Stain, 1979

Ibanez Musician MC500 Solidbody Dark Stain, 1979

The Ibanez Musician MC500 appeared as Ibanez hit its stride and moved away from straight copies of US models, and was built from late 1977 as a 1978 model to 1980. The Musician series used a multi-piece, neck-through design and active electronics, all quite possibly influenced by the Alembic instruments of the day. Overall, the goal was to provide maximum sustain, stability and tonal versatility in a professional grade package.

Also available in a ‘Blue Flower’ finish – the same idea, but with flowers and a blue tint, these finished did not last long in the Fender catalog. These models have been reissued from time to time, and in 1994 and 1995 the Fender Red Paisley Telecaster was built for Fender Japan by Fuji-Gen Gakki in Matsumoto, Nagano Japan.

The neck is a three piece design, with outside layers of Mahogany on a Maple center section, and an Ebony fingerboard with three-piece Abalone and Mother of Pearl position markers. The traditional wooden bridge is Ebony, for both cap and base.
