Here we have, in  fantastic condition, a  Gibson 1957 Les Paul Junior Reissue in TV Yellow – this colour was formulated to help these show up on black and white televisions. The Les Paul Junior was built as a single cutaway, single P-90 pickup, slab body model from 1954 to 1958 and marketed as an entry level model.  It was available in three finishes – Cherry, Sunburst and TV Yellow.  The body and set-neck are Mahogany, and the fingerboard Rosewood.

Gibson Les Paul Junior Sunburst, 1954

Gibson Les Paul Junior Sunburst, 1954

Here we have a wonderful rarity! One of the first Gibson Les Paul Junior Sunburst models built, from 1954 when the Junior was introduced. Intended as an entry level, student model, the Gibson Les Paul Junior Sunburst – the only finish it came in – was a bare-bones but high quality guitar with Tropical Mahogany for the body and neck, and Rosewood for the fingerboard; for most if not all of the Junior’s production run between 1954 and 1963 when it was discontinued, this meant Brazilian Rosewood. Position markers are simple Mother of Pearl dots.

Gibson ES-125D Archtop Electric Non Cutaway Sunburst, 1957

Gibson ES-125D Archtop Electric Non Cutaway Sunburst, 1957

The Gibson ES-125D is a rare version of a pretty common instrument. The entry-level ES-125 was very popular, but had only a P-90 pickup in the neck position until, and for only, 1957. Introduced in 1941 and offered until 1970 with production suspended between 1943 and 1946, the ES-125 was an ideal guitar for many genres.

Gibson J160E Steel String Guitar Sunburst, 1956

Gibson J160E Steel String Guitar Sunburst, 1956

Introduced in 1954 and intended as a companion to the then-new Les Paul solidbody, the Gibson J160E was one of the first mass production electrified steel string guitars. This model was discontinued in 1979, and is occasionally re-issued. One of the greatest contributors to the success of this model was a 1962 model’s appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show, in the hands of one John Lennon. That was The Beatles first US performance, and made all their gear quite popular.
