Gibson EDS-1275 Doubleneck 6/12 String Cherry, 1990

The Gibson EDS-1275 is the company’s current doubleneck design with six and twelve string necks. This design addresses a number of performance issues, primarily how to avoid switching instruments when a piece calls for both six and twelve string parts. Shown here is a Gibson EDS-1275 doubleneck in cherry finish, built mid 1990 at Nashville, Tennessee. It is in very good, clean and almost entirely original condition with its original rectangular hard shell case.

Gibson SG Special Heritage Cherry Red, 2005

With the 1961 revamp and rename of the Les Paul line in 1961, the Gibson SG Special came on stage. Using the same basic construction as the Standard or Custom models, the SG Special lowered price points by minimizing decoration.

Tokai ‘SG Standard’ Cherry Red, 2000

Here we have a Tokai ‘SG Standard’ in a gloss Cherry Red finish, dating to around 2000. It was built in Korea and has no serial number, which places it between the mid 1990s and 2005. This particular example was purchased used by the current owner around 2002 in nearly new condition. It’s still in quite good shape and plays very well.

Gibson SG Special Sparkling Burgundy, 2019

The Gibson SG Special first appeared under that name in 1963, but began as the Les Paul Special in 1955, and was discontinued in 1971. Construction is pretty straightforward, with a slab Mahogany body and a Mahogany neck with Rosewood fingerboard. Indian Rosewood replaced Brazilian around 1965.

From 2005, here’s a Gibson SG Standard in Ebony Black, with the classic ‘Batwing’ pickguard and recently set up at The Twelfth Fret Repair shop. This example dates to March 8, 2005 and wwas built at Gibson Nashville.

Gibson SG Deluxe Cobalt Fade, 2013

Over the years, there have been a few guitars with the Gibson SG Deluxe name, but this one from 2013 is perhaps the most genuinely Deluxe. Sporting a flamed Maple top on a Mahogany body, a Mahogany neck with bound headstock and bound Indian Rosewood fingerboard and split-diamond inlays, the 2013 Gibson SG Deluxe also featured three ’57 Classic pickups with some new wiring.
