Shown here is an original condition Gibson SG Standard with optional Bigsby from 1973, in Walnut finish and originally sold at Mamelok LTD in Manchester, England, which closed in 1993. The Gibson SG Standard launched with the SG name in 1963, but really first appeared in 1961 as a radical redesign of the Les Paul model.

MORE →Introduced in 1997 as part of a Signature Series, the Fender Jimmy Vaughn Tex-Mex Strat is still built in Ensenada, Mexico. Jimmy Vaughn is of course Stevie Ray’s older brother, and from 1974 to 1990 played in The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Based on a later 1950’s Stratocaster, the Fender Jimmy Vaughn Tex-Mex Strat uses an Alder body paired with a one-piece Maple neck.

MORE →Making its debut appearance in 1969, the Gibson Les Paul Deluxe layout was based on the 1950’s pre-humbucker P-90 models. The Deluxe body construction uses the same Maple cap on a Mahogany back as the Standard humbucker version, but the pickup routes accept either P-90s or mini-humbuckers which are mounted in P-90 sized support rings.
