The C. F. Martin D18 75th Anniversary series was based on the first 14-fret dreadnoughts, built during 1934. This line was the precursor to the Golden Era models, and used aged toners, Adirondack Spruce tops, classic scalloped bracing, V-profile neck, and a 1934 style bridge with long saddle. Waverly tuners are installed, and there are no electronics.

Martin D18 Dreadnought Steel String Guitar, 1975

The Martin D18 is a classic, and has been one of the most popular guitar designs since its mass market introduction in the early 1930’s as a comeback from the mid 1910’s models built for the Ditson company. The Dreadnought was first built by Martin as the ‘Extra Large’ Ditson Model 111, between 1919 and 1930. Ditson was a prominent American music retail chain at the time. The earliest models used a fan style bracing pattern, but by 1924 an X brace was used.

Froggy Bottom M Body Guitar Sunburst, 2001

The Froggy Bottom M Body guitar is hand crafted in Michael Millard’s six-person Froggy Bottom shop in Chelsea, Vermont USA. Based on 16 inch wide ‘jumbo’ style body, the Froggy Bottom M body is similar in dimensions to the Martin M design, bigger than the classic 000 body but not as large as a dreadnought. This body design produces a harmonically more even tone than the dreadnought, with less attack and sustain. These characteristics make it an excellent choice for fingerstyle guitarists.

Sometimes we run into guitars that are just spectacular in every way. This Martin D-42 Custom Koa is one such guitar. This guitar is visually stunning and has far more than just good looks. It plays very well, is extremely responsive with a full, rich and sparkling tone, and it’s quite light. A classic C F Martin logo is also executed in Abalone. The fingerboard and bridge features a classic Snowflake motif, again in Abalone.

Exquisitely proportioned and delivering on the promises of its appearance, the Gibson L7 Archtop was the instrument used by many professional players for several decades.Introduced in 1932 as a mid-level but professional quality, the Gibson L7 was a full size 17 inch archtop guitar and was immediately popular. The last non-cutaway model, like this, was made in 1955. In its cutaway form the L7C, it was built until 1972.

Taylor 812ce 12 Fret Cutaway Steel String

The Taylor 812ce 12 Fret Cutaway Steel String is a very good sounding guitar and demonstrates the added projection and sustain from the new V-Class bracing pattern. Starting from the Grand Concert design, a soft Venetian cutaway is added, and the body is built using a Sitka Spruce top paired with traditional Indian Rosewood for the back and sides. The 12-fret neck is Mahogany, with Ebony used for the headplate, bridge, and bound fingerboard.
