William Laskin is very well known for the creativity and quality of his inlay work. Here, a stag or buck – a male deer with antlers is depicted between frets 11 and 18, in a mixture of engraved woods and, it appears, ivory for the antlers. This guitar is old enough that small amounts of ivory were still used, and here appears in the nut, saddle, sliding nut components, and the inlaid antlers.

Gibson SJ 200 Standard Sunburst, 2017

Here is a very nice Gibson SJ 200 Standard – the SJ standing for Super Jumbo – in Vintage Sunburst and built during 2015 in Bozeman, Montana. The name has varied over time, starting as the SJ-200 from 1938 to 1954, then abbreviated to J-200 until 1999 when it became the SJ-200 again. This model has been a favourite with a wide range of guitarists, from Gene Autry to Jimmy Page, Pete Townsend to Tex Ritter.

Martin D28 Marquis 1935 Style Sunburst, 2014

The Martin D28 Marquis, here with Adirondack Spruce top, was the top shelf of the Style 28 Dreadnought line, re-creating historic designs with premium materials. The Marquis and Golden Era models went out of production in 2017, and were replaced with the Authentic series. Here we’re looking at a Martin D28 Marquis, built during 2014 at the Martin plant in Nazareth, Pennsylvania.

Collings MT A Style Mandolin Satin Sunburst, 2019

The Collings MT A Style mandolin is the entry point for Collings mandolins, and its lack of decoration doesn’t hide the quality of the instrument or the care with which it was built. The A Style mandolin appeared in the closing days of the 19th century as part of Orville Gibson’s revolutionary introduction of violin making principles to mandolin construction. The results were such a dramatic improvement that the centuries old European bowl-back design almost died out in short order.

Gibson HP415 CEX Cutaway Walnut Body Steel String, 2017

Part of the High Performance series introduced for the 2017 model year and currently out of production, the Gibson HP 415 CEX pairs a Sitka Spruce top and Black Walnut for the sides, back, rectangular bridge and fingerboard. The neck is Maple, and the body blocks are Mahogany. As stock, this model carried an L R Baggs Element pickup system, with the controls tucked under the bass edge of the sound hole.

Collings Orchestra Model OM1 Natural, 2008

Drawing from a classic 1930s design, the Collings Orchestra Model OM1 is ideal for finger stylists and flatpickers alike. This Collings Orchestra Model OM1 dates to 2008 and is in good condition, with great action and a good neck set. This model is built using the pairing of a Sitka Spruce top with Tropical Mahogany for the sides, back, body blocks and neck, and Ebony for the bridge fingerboard and head plate.
