Fender Stratocaster Left Handed Made In Japan Blonde, 1987

Fender Stratocaster Left Handed Made In Japan Blonde, 1987

It’s unusual to see a Fender Stratocaster in Left Handed form, from the start of the ‘New’ Fender era when much of Fender’s production was Made in Japan. Here, we have a Fender Stratocaster Left Handed built during 1987 at the FujiGen Gakki plant in Nagano, in Blonde finish with Rosewood fingerboard. The original pickups have been replaced with Seymour Duncan models, and the original pick guard with a faux-tortoise unit. This really works well with the Rosewood fingerboard.

Fender Eric Johnson Stratocaster Sunburst, 2006

Fender Eric Johnson Stratocaster Sunburst, 2006

Drawing from 1957 specifications, the Fender Eric Johnson Stratocaster is built from a light-weight two-piece Alder body, and a one-piece Maple neck. (This model is also available with a Rosewood fingerboard). Since Johnson removes the backplate, it’s not installed on the signature model and mounting holes are not drilled.   The tuners are a staggered set – the posts for the high E, B and G strings are shortened to increase downbearing at the nut without requiring a string tree, which can add friction.

Fender Stratocaster Antigua Maple Neck Hard Tail, 1979

Fender Stratocaster Antigua Maple Neck Hard Tail, 1979

Fender produced the Stratocaster Antigua in limited numbers during the 1970’s. This unusual finish is like a grey to pale yellow sunburst, often with a greenish tint. The Antigua finish started as a way to fix a problem with burned binding on Coronados, and was extended to other models. Here we have a hard tail, maple neck version of the 1979 Stratocaster Antigua. Built in Fullerton, California while CBS still owned Fender, this guitar is in good, all original condition.

Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster Sunburst, 1999

Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster Sunburst, 1999

Here we’re looking at an early American Deluxe Stratocaster, dating to 1999 with the ‘SSS’ three single-coil configuration – or so it seems. The Vintage Noiseless single coils are actually two stacked coils in the stock cover. This rosewood-fingerboard example is in very nice condition, and the most visible wear is that the ‘noiseless’ logos has worn off the pickup covers; this happens fairly quickly. It is equipped with locking tuners, which speed up string changes and can slightly improve tuning stability through fewer wraps on the post. At this time, the locking tuners did not have staggered posts.

Fender Jeff Beck Stratocaster Olympic White, 2006

Fender Jeff Beck Stratocaster Olympic White, 2006

The Fender Jeff Beck Stratocaster, here as an Olympic White 2006 custom shop build, recognizes Beck’s needs for sonic versatility and tuning stability. Unusually for top flight rock players, Jeff Beck plays fingerstyle, without picks, and his heavy use of the trem bridge is part of his unmistakable sound. In the mid 1960’s, Jeff Beck was one of three top English players closely associated with the Telecaster – Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page were the other two.
