The Fender Mustang was added to the Fender program in 1964 and was aimed at starter and intermediate guitar players. The model evolved from the Musicmaster and Duo-Sonic student models and had a similar body shape, short 22.5″ or 24 inch scale length neck and pickup(s).

Hammertone Deluxe Mandotar Prototype Sunburst, 1990s

The Hammertone Deluxe Mandotar is a very interesting instrument. Built in George Furlanetto’s FBass workshop in Hamilton, Ontario and drawing from the 1964 – 1968 Vox Mando Guitar or Octave 12, these are like a solidbody electric 12 string with a capo at the octave fret. The size and layout is much like a mandolin.

Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Candy Apple Red, 2013

Built in Corona, California from 2010 to 2016, the Fender American Deluxe Telecaster was a progression in Telecaster design. Bringing forward the key elements that have made the Telecaster a success since its 1950 introduction, the American Deluxe Telecaster adds a compound radius neck with bi-flex truss rod, locking tuners, noiseless pickups and extra contouring. These are all practical improvements.

Fender Precision Bass Sunburst, 1974

Introduced in 1951 and still in production with relatively minor changes, the Fender Precision Bass is an example of a designer getting everything right. Immediately, it almost completely displacing the upright bass it was intended to challenge, and it has become one of the most-used and most-recorded instruments in history.

Ibanez GB-10 George Benson Archtop Sunburst, 1981

The Ibanez GB-10 George Benson BS (for Brown Sunburst) is still in production as are other versions of the model, and they are as practical as when introduced. This model features two ‘floating’ mini-humbucking pickups, one attached to the fingerboard tag and the other to the pickguard. Neither contacts the top though the pickguard has a small support post. The Ibanez GB-10 George Benson has been in production since 1977 along with other versions of the model, and they are as practical as when introduced.

The Gibson Collector’s Choice #5 ‘Donna’ is a meticulous replica of the 1959 Les Paul Standard bearing the serial number 9-1923 and owned by Tom Wittrock, noted collector and owner of The Third Eye guitar shop in Springfield, Missouri. This pristine example is number 138 of 300 built during 2015 in Nashville, Tennessee.
