Here’s an always-fun guitar – a 1965 Gibson ES-125TDC thinline cutaway archtop electric guitar with a pair of P-90’s and several upgrades! This guitar plays very well, and like the double-cutaway ES-330 or Epiphone Casino, is very light and very versatile.

Larson Bros Prairie State Steel String Brazilian Natural, 1930s

Here’s a real beauty! This is a Larson Bros Prairie State steel string guitar, likely a Model 425 with a OOO sized body, Adirondack Spruce top paired with Brazilian Rosewood for the sides and back. It is likely that the bridge is a replacement – the original would have had engraved, inlaid stars on each of the bridge ‘wings’. The Larson Brothers, Carl and August, began working for the Robert Maurer guitar company in 1893. In 1900, Maurer decided to retire, and the Larsons and investors purchased the company. Over the years, Carl bought out the investors giving the brothers full control.

Gibson ES-335TDC Cherry Red, 1966

Here’s a very nice Thinline, Double Pickup, Cherry finish Gibson ES-335TDC, Union Made during 1966 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Thinline concept was introduced in 1955 to produce a more compact hollowbody archtop electric instrument less prone to feedback. For the 1958 model year, this was combined with a solid, very feedback resistant center block to create the revolutionary semi-hollow ES-335 – which also carried Gibson’s new humbucking pickups.

Martin 0-16NY Steel String Guitar Natural, 1974

The small body, slotted peghead, 12-fret neck Martin 0-16NY was effectively Martin’s first ‘Vintage Reissue’ when it appeared in 1961. It was introduced during the ‘Folk Boom’ in recognition of interest in and scarcity of early Martin guitars.

Gibson J-160E Electric FlatTop Sunburst, 1956

Introduced in 1954, the Gibson J-160E flat top electric turned out to be one of the more successful of Gibson’s slope-shouldered dreadnoughts. Intended as a companion to the then-new Les Paul solidbody, the Gibson J-160E was one of the first mass production electrified steel string guitars. This model was discontinued in 1979, and is occasionally re-issued.

Gibson F-4 Oval Hole Mandolin Sunburst, 1916

On January 5, 2023 /

Built from 1902 to 1934, the Gibson F-4 Oval Hole F-Style mandolin was the top of the line until 1922 when Lloyd Loar introduced the F-hole F-5 model. Both models were then built until 1943, when WW2 interrupted production. The Gibson F-4 and F-5 paired an Adirondack Spruce top with a carved figured Maple back.
