David Wren Steel String Guitar Natural, 1979

Built during 1979 in Toronto, this David Wren steel string guitar illustrates Wren’s continually developing skill. At this point, he had been building professionally for four years, starting with Jean Larrivee along with other now-prominent builders including William Laskin and Linda Manzer.

Fender Eric Clapton Signature Pewter, 2000 /*No Longer Available*

The Fender Eric Clapton Signature model first appeared as a production model in 1998, though the first were built for and used EC himself in 1986. This model is based on Clapton’s ‘Blackie’ Strat which he’d put together from several Strats, but it’s not a slavish copy.

Fender P-Bass Refinish, 1963

  Fender P-Bass Refinish, 1963

This Fender P-Bass has been around! Dating to 1963 and refinished during the 1980’s at the original Twelfth Fret location at 920 Kingston Road, the faux-tortoise pickguard has also been modified into two sections, the other components are original and it feels and sounds like an L-Series Precision bass.

Martin & Coupa Guitar, 1840s

  Martin & Coupa Guitar, 1840s

Here is another rarity – an 1840’s Martin & Coupa guitar, built in Nazareth PA for John Coupa at 385 Broadway (Upstairs!) in New York. It is extraordinary that an instrument like this Martin & Coupa guitar could be in all original and playable condition, complete with its original “coffin” case, over 160 years after its production! To give a little chronological perspective, this instrument would have been delivered to its first owner by stagecoach and riverboat 20 years before the American Civil War.

Gibson Les Paul Custom Black, 1981

Gibson Les Paul Custom Black, 1981

The Gibson Les Paul Custom in Black is an iconic and aspirational guitar, used in every genre where solidbody models are accepted. When introduced as the ‘Black Beauty’ in 1954, the idea was that it would be appropriate for a guitarist dressed in a tuxedo. It’s stayed at the top of the line, but has been used by punk bands as well.
