DISCONTINUED! Fender American Professional Jazzmaster Mystic Seafoam

The Fender American Professional Jazzmaster in Mystic Seafoam is part of Fender’s modernization of many of its top end models. Originally introduced in 1958 and marketed towards Jazz guitars the Jazz master quickly became popular with surf rock guitars of the 60’s. It later caught on with all types of players that liked its unique appearance and fat sound.

Fender Stratocaster Hard Tail Sunburst, 1978

Fender Stratocaster Hard Tail Sunburst, 1978

Here we have a Fender Stratocaster HardTail, built at the Fullerton plant during 1978, during the CBS era. The HardTail version was made from 1955 until 2006, when poor sales caused Fender to drop the HardTail model. The two Stratocaster versions are very similar, but the fixed hardtail bridge model doesn’t have the large cavity routed on the back for the trem block and springs. Without that cavity and the spring components, the Fender Stratocaster HardTail tends to have a bit more sustain and note-to-note clarity and separation, as with the Telecaster. Of course, this means it does not have the ‘built-in reverb’ contributed by the springs, whether the bridge is set to trem use, or fully tightened down for tuning stability.

Gibson EDS 1275 Doubleneck Guitar Cherry, 1997

Gibson EDS 1275 Doubleneck Guitar Cherry, 1997

This is one of the most recognizable guitars in the world, though it is not common – the Gibson EDS 1275 Doubleneck has become an iconic instrument seen in larger shows. EDS stands for Electric Double Spanish, with Spanish referring to the way the guitar is held – as distinct from Hawaiian or lap models.  Most of the double neck models we see are copies, but this is the real deal! The concept of the double neck guitar may draw from the Harp Guitar, which appeared in the early 19th century, and from the very few double neck guitars from the 17th century. Gibson began producing a few double neck instruments in the late 1950’s, including a semi-hollow, carved spruce topped model with lower 6-string and upper octave necks.

Gibson ES339 Thinline Vintage Sunburst, 2011

Gibson ES339 Thinline Vintage Sunburst, 2011

This very clean Gibson ES339 Thinline Archtop Electric in Antique Vintage Sunburst was built during 2011 at the now-closed Memphis plant. Based on the successful ES-335, the ES-339 scales down the body width and length while maintaining the scale length and neck width. The result is a very comfortable and extremely versatile guitar with classic looks. Construction of the Gibson ES339 Thinline Archtop Electric follows the pattern of Gibson’s ES models and how that was adapted to the ground-breaking 1958 ES-335. From the late 1940’s, Gibson started using Maple Laminates for the top, back and sides of their electrified archtops in an effort to reduce both feedback and costs.

It has been used by many top artists on countless recordings and stages.  The Hummingbird features a Sitka Spruce top paired with tropical Mahogany for the sides, back, body blocks and neck.
