David Wren has been building since the 1970’s, after apprenticing (like so many of Canada’s top luthiers) with Jean Larrivee.

David Wren’s Studio line was made during the early 1980’s as a simpler, lower-priced ‘standard production’ alternative to the rather more expensive custom order models that most builders create.  These models feature a spruce top and mahogany back and sides with ebony bridge, maple binding, and a mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard.    This 1981 David Wren Studio model also has an LR Baggs ribbon transducer pickup installed, with and endpin jack; Schaller tuners, bone nut and saddle.

This example is in good playing order, and it has been played; there is some fret wear on the lower frets.
