The Terraplane Resonator guitar was originally built for slide great Arlen Roth. His direction was to “Build me a guitar with a coverplate which resembles the hubcap of my 1930’s Hudson Terraplane Motor Car. Call it the TERRAPLANE.”
Built by Mark Simon in Bridgewater, New Jersey, this 2013 Terraplane Resonator guitar is in excellent condition with the original Terraplane case. Finished in antiqued brass, this guitar features two Lollar pickups, carbon fiber spider and saddles, a single resonator cone, and the distinctive cover design based on the Terraplane hubcap. There are three controls – volume on the resonator cover, tone on the upper bass side and a balance control on the lower treble side.
This is a highly distinctive instrument with a great tone. Terraplane guitars are rare and hand built so you won’t see many in circulation.
