Part of the Marquis series, the C. F. Martin 000-27vs is a recreation of a classic Martin guitar from the earlier part of the 20th century.   The Martin 000-28vs uses the larger 000 size body, and the 28 material and trim set – Sitka Spruce top, Indian Rosewood back and sides, herringbone binding, mahogany neck with slotted headstock.

The mahogany 12 fret neck has an unbound ebony fingerboard, and the bridge is also ebony. The headplate is Indian Rosewood.   This guitar’s construction is interesting. It looks back to earlier times, when 12-fret necks were common. This design puts the bridge close to the center of the vibrating top, giving more output and a fuller, vibrant tone.

The shift to 14 fret necks was a response to the rising popularity of the guitar, at the expense of the banjo; the extra two frets were added to make the transition from banjo easier.   This guitar is in excellent condition with very minor play wear, and the original Martin hard-shell case is included.
